Projects and Project Management
Completed Reference & User Services Association (RUSA) course, “Project Management in Libraries,” taught by Debra Lucas-Alfieri, Oct. 2-31, 2017.

I led a one and a half year project at Howard University to implement the new integrated library platform, Alma. This project was part of a larger consortial project (i.e., Washington Research Library Consortium) to implement Alma in thirteen institutions.

For the past year I have been the Alma Administrator, and as such, supervise four teams to achieve the following goals:

-
Identify, report, assess and solve issues in Alma/Primo
-
Perform data clean-up and periodic record maintenance
-
Identify and implement long-term enhancements and integrations in Alma
-
Share and document growing expertise, as well as offer ongoing staff training
-
Provide improved services to our patrons
-
Improve efficiencies in our workflow
-
Coordinate our goals better with WRLC and Ex Libris
I was an integral part of two data migrations projects, one from III Millennium to Voyager, the other from Voyager to Alma at Howard University.
I was the principal investigator and project leader of a $210,000 IMLS grant called "Portal to the Black Experience". I oversaw the construction of a relational database that is an open source search portal developed for researchers, teachers and the general public. This prototype contains over 2,100 names of persons of African descent and related others, along with structured biographical information, and links to networked library and archival resources.
I was the project lead setting up the metadata tables and dictionary for Howard's institutional digital repository, as well as establishing Howard's disgital yearbook collection.
Project Management Collaborative Platforms
I have been using Basecamp for the last two years managing the implementation and configurations of Alma, our integrated library platform.
For the past three years I have been using Microsofts's SharePoint.
